Tuition fees

Fee amount for one academic year

The fees are divided into two instalments, and the amount varies according to the study plan you will submit and your financial status.

For a standard study plan of between 46 and 74 ECTS and an ISEE of up to € 22,000, the amount is € 157.04; for a higher-value ISEE, the amount gradually increases up to a maximum of € 3,943.04. In particular, for an ISEE between € 22,001 and € 30,000, the amount is calculated with a specific formula; for an ISEE higher than € 30,000, the amount is established on the basis of fee bands. The percentage corresponding to the number of ECTS credits in the study plan is then applied to these amounts.

International students belonging to the reserved non-EU category (i.e. not equivalent to Italian students), who are admitted to Master's programmes with a first-level qualification obtained abroad and who are not recipients of either a scholarship from Politecnico di Milano or other institutions or scholarships awarded for merit and income by the 'Diritto allo Studio' are required to pay the maximum amount in relation to the percentage corresponding to the number of ECTS in their study plan.

Particularly capable and deserving students who find themselves in certain economic conditions can also access "Diritto allo Studio" benefits.

If you intend to enrol in the Online Degree (IOL), follow the instructions provided by the programme site.

You are a future student of the 2026/2027 academic year

If you intend to enrol in a degree programme, either for a Laurea triennale (equivalent to Bachelor of Science), Laurea magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science), or Laurea a ciclo unico (equivalent to a five-year Master degree programme), you will need to pay the first instalment of €880.04 upon enrolment.

First instalment reduction

You may obtain a reduction in the amount if you submit an ISEE 2026 indicator with a value below € 27,740, by following these steps:

  • Request the ISEE for “university use” through the INPS (Italian National Social Security Office) website (also using the pre-filled option) or through a CAF
  • Enter the date of signature of the Dichiarazione Sostitutiva Unica (DSU) in the Online Services, in the reserved area (Admission applications > ISEE entry for enrolment)
  • Timing: enter the date at least 10 working days before the enrolment date, so that you do not have to pay the first instalment.
This advance notice is essential because of the time required by INPS to process and transmit your data to Politecnico di Milano.

Confirmation of the indicator

The reduction obtained on the first instalment with the ISEE 2026 must subsequently be confirmed by submitting the ISEE 2027, starting from January 2027, in order to determine the amount of the second instalment.

Second instalment of the 2026/2027 academic year

The second instalment is paid in May and is calculated considering the following:

  • number of ECTS in the study plan
  • income bracket corresponding to the ISEE 2027 or, for those with income and assets abroad, or both abroad and in Italy, the Equalised ISEEU

The second instalment ranges from €0 to €3,003 (for a study plan including between 46 and 74 ECTS credits), only if due, an amount supplementing the regional tax paid in advance with the first instalment.

To obtain a reduction in the maximum amount of the second instalment:

  •  starting from January, request a new calculation of the ISEE 2027 for university use from INPS or a CAF; if you have income or assets abroad (or both abroad and in Italy), you must request the calculation of the Equalised ISEEU 2027 according to the process described on the dedicated page
Note: students enrolled in the second semester of the Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) programme who registered a 2027 ISEE/ISEEU parificato at the time of enrolment are not required to resubmit it.
  • Please visit the  Online Services (Data > Taxes and financial benefits > ISEE Declaration) and insert the signing date of the Single Substitute Statement, while waiting to receive the ISEE.

The maximum amount is automatically charged to students:

  • without an ISEE certificate who decide not to submit one;
  • international students belonging to the reserved non-EU category, i.e. not equivalent to Italian citizens, enrolled in Master’s degree programmes with a first-level qualification obtained abroad, who have not been awarded a scholarship by Politecnico di Milano or by other institutions.
The maximum amount applies to this category even if they submit the ISEE/ISEEU parificato.
