Proximity and innovation

The 11th edition of the Polisocial Award is been launched. The contest is meant to support scientific research with a high social impact at the Politecnico di Milano and is financed with 5x1000 IRPEF funds.

The 2024 edition is dedicated to “Proximity and Innovation” and is designed in close relationship with the OFF CAMPUS University project, with the aim of activating innovation-through-proximity processes in the city of Milan. The latter refer to social change dynamics that are rooted in a local and clearly identified dimension, in which a primary role is given to co-research and co-design paths through the construction of long-lasting alliances between the University, local actors and other stakeholders. The competition is addressed to research, design and action proposals that are able to meet social, material, technological and cultural needs/demands emerging from the Off Campus contexts, as well as to implement and consolidate effective interventions, to in order to enrich the community support action carried out by the Politecnico.

What kinds of projects

The initiative supports inclusive and multidisciplinary projects, capable of promoting strong partnerships on which to base research and co-design activities. Research will include pilot actions. All projects are asked to adopt an action-research methodology, as well as to include public engagement actions and assume an impact-based principle. Proposals must apply for one of two funding lines: activation of new research projects; consolidation of existing research projects connected with the Off Campus initiative.
