BSc in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering

How can we sustainably manage natural resources like water, air, soil and biodiversity? How can we predict the evolution of our environment, contrast its degradation and mitigate the effects of potential environmental risks? The Environmental and Land Planning Engineering degree program answers these questions, training professionals capable of tackling today’s and future environmental challenges with scientific knowledge and engineering skills. The program focuses on the spaces we live in and the natural resources we rely on, analyzing both natural processes and human-induced changes. The curriculum provides a multidisciplinary education, combining scientific and engineering disciplines. Students gain skills to analyze environmental and territorial phenomena and design sustainable interventions, using simulation and modeling tools. Graduates can work in engineering firms, environmental consulting, or public institutions, carrying out tasks such as assessing environmental impacts, managing natural resources sustainably, designing remediation projects, and protecting natural and built environments.

The Environmental and Land Planning Engineering program trains students to understand how environmental and territorial systems evolve, at different spatial and temporal scales, and to assess the risks these changes pose to society. Students learn to design solutions for sustainable resource management, land protection, and environmental quality improvement, both through preventive measures and long-term projects.
The curriculum combines a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computer science with specialized courses in the different fields of interest: natural hazard prevention, environmental monitoring, land planning and management, environmental protection and reclamation technologies. Hands-on learning is an integral part of the program, including laboratories, field visits, and internships, giving students direct experience with real-world environmental and engineering challenges.

A graduate in Environmental and Land Planning Engineering is a professional who protects the environment—and with it, the health of people and the safety of territories. They can analyze complex phenomena, assess risks and impacts, and design practical solutions to manage resources sustainably, safeguard land, and improve environmental quality.
Graduates can work in engineering firms, environmental consulting, or public institutions, carrying out tasks such as developing sustainable resource plans, designing remediation projects, operating treatment plants, and implementing monitoring systems. By passing the State Exam, they can register with the professional Engineers’ Association (Section B) and officially practice as engineers.
Graduates can further their expertise through a master’s degree or specialized postgraduate programs.
