SPORT on the Leonardo Campus

The Mario Giuriati sports centre, also known as the Mario Giuriati stadium, is a multi-purpose Italian sports facility which, since it opened in 1929, has served as a university stadium and been the sports hub of the Città Studi district. In 2008, the Politecnico di Milano signed an agreement with the City of Milan, committing itself to redeveloping and upgrading the spaces and infrastructure on campus.

The agreement covers initiatives for redevelopment, renovation and new services: renovation of the warehouse building, which has been converted into the campus café; refurbishment of the athletics track; and of the rugby pitch; renovation, restoration and safety upgrades for the grandstand; construction of the new services building; construction of the arena (indoor sports centre); construction of three pitches for five-a-side football, 2 covered, air-conditioned courts for padel tennis, a covered, air-conditioned space for master classes, a tool storage room, 4 floodlight towers to illuminate the pitch and athletics track; and redevelopment of the entire green area with new plants.
