Trifoglio
The idea
Modernising in continuity with the past
The historic Trifoglio building, with its nine classrooms, was radically changed from a functional and morphological perspective, while however preserving the traditional and original image of this building as testimony to and an emblem of Milan in the early 1960s. Eight of its classrooms were adapted as mentioned already, respecting the linguistic and material aspects of the original spaces; one classroom, instead, was restored in a philological form, preserving and recovering the furnishings and historical atmosphere. Two classrooms and the majestic entrance hall were merged according to a sophisticated concept of flexibility to create one large Aula Magna named after “Gianpiero Pesenti” which can be used as a conference hall on campus.
The work was carried out in a way that combined the enduring signs of post-war architecture with a functional and technological reinterpretation that is so necessary today.
