Descrizione dell'iniziativa
The "Students on site" workshop is an initiative promoted by the Renzo Piano Foundation. Since 2012, it has engaged architecture students at Renzo Piano Building Workshop construction sites, aiming to let future architects experience the importance and tangible reality of the construction site within a project, thanks to the collaboration of the RPBW studio, clients, and the contractors involved. This experience invites students to explore the architecture and geography of a construction site across four stages: the key players on the ground; the project’s transformation and evolution during the execution phase; and the physical transformation of the site in line with the design concept. The site selected for this workshop is the construction project for the new Komorebi Campus in Bovisa, designed by RPBW. This project transforms the disused Goccia industrial area into a sustainable university campus, combining twenty new zero-impact buildings, an intact 24-hectare forest, and restored historic structures.The course alternates between site visits and classroom sessions. Work will focus specifically on studying the façade and observing selected details. The course will be coordinated by architect Maria Salerno, a former RPBW associate and professor at ENSA Paris-Malaquais, and Elisabetta Trezzani, RPBW partner.

Note
Due to the logistics of the construction site, the workshop takes place during the academic term, and attendance on all four days of the activity is mandatory. Before registering, students are asked to ensure that participating in the workshop does not conflict with any mandatory attendance requirements for their regular coursework, which naturally take precedence.Students are required to provide their own safety footwear for construction sites; standard "heavy-duty" shoes are not sufficient.
