Descrizione dell'iniziativa
The Passion in Action initiative “Becoming a Designer” returns for its third edition, expanding through a collaboration with ADI – Association for Industrial Design and the ADI Design Museum. The initiative continues to offer a unique opportunity for cultural and professional development, addressed to students of the School of Design at Politecnico di Milano as well as to the broader design community and those interested in design culture.
Through seven evening seminars, held weekly or every two weeks starting from 29 September, the programme will explore the expressive artefacts and practices of the designer.
Each session, led by Prof. Francesco Schianchi together with a representative of the Board of the BSc Programme in Industrial Product Design and/or ADI, will feature a prominent designer selected for their specific expertise in the topic addressed during the evening.
This synergy between academia and professional practice offers students a distinctive and stimulating perspective, bringing together theory and practice. The seminar series goes beyond the transmission of knowledge, aiming to foster the critical and creative thinking required to address the challenges of contemporary design.
The active participation of students will contribute to a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. The programme represents a valuable opportunity for those aspiring to become aware, responsible and innovative designers, capable of interpreting and shaping the future of design.
With an ironic yet reflective approach, the events will focus on seven key verbs that characterise the designer’s practice:
OBSERVE – analysing the different perspectives and ways of seeing.
IMAGINE – exploring imagination and the role of PERSPECTIVE.
CONTEXTUALISE – analysing cultural, social, aesthetic, technological and behavioural contexts in relation to relevant references and stakeholders.
ENVISION – analysing and constructing scenarios through the variables of what is possible, probable and desirable.
TECHNOLOGISE – exploring the limits, constraints and opportunities associated with the application of technology to design.
DESIGN – addressing perspective, ethics, sustainability and the designer’s responsibility.
COMMUNICATE – exploring how and through which means designers can communicate themselves, their work and their artefacts.
