DAER'S Tecnam P92 is back to fly

The flying classroom at the Politecnico

Politecnico di Milano’s flying classroom made the first flight of its new life over the Bresso airport “G. Clerici". The aircraft, a Tecnam P92 acquired many years ago by the Department of Aerospace Sciences and Technologies (DAER) of the Politecnico di Milano, has been completely refurbished and is finally ready to provide exclusive experimental support to DAER's educational and research activities.

The operation was sponsored by Longines, Tecnam and a large group of donors through the Alumni community, in collaboration with Aero Club Milano (ACM), the historic flight school operating from Bresso airport. The DAER-ACM partnership has been active for several years with great success and will gain further momentum from the possibility of operating the flying classroom from the Milan airport just a few minutes from Politecnico’s Bovisa campus.

The arrival of the aircraft, registered as an advanced ultralight under the registration marks I-5882, will allow the strengthening of innovative educational actions already started for many years in the BSc course in Aerospace Engineering and the MSc course in Aeronautical Engineering. Particularly, systematic use is expected in the in the "Flight Testing" graduate course, in which each student plans, performs and analyzes the results of a flight test. A unique opportunity offered at the Politecnico di Milano that combines passion, academic preparation and practical experience in a fascinating and highly specialized field.
